Underwood on Australia’s Fires (Western Institute for the Study of the Environment)

03.22.09 – Underwood on Australia’s Fires (Western Institute for the Study of the Environment)

Some commentary on this article from NVFSC Partners and Members:

“The attached article is a profound reminder of what each of you are already very aware of. I don’t believe that we can wait any longer for more catastrophies to occur, as continues in CA  and Nevada over recent years. Calls for action are essential if anything is to occur on a scale necessary to make a difference in our state. If politics and unreasonable approaches to resource management by some federal agencies continue to be fronted, Nevada has no choice but to make its voice heard collectively and loudly to challenge these proposals.  The same is true of other western states. What can we do to make a difference beyond where we are today?” – JM

“Whew! The attached article is pretty direct and pretty poignant. I would advise disbursing it throughout the membership. It may be worth printing and leaving at the April meeting for all to pick up at their leisure.” – BW
