The Manhattan Chapter of the Nevada Fire Safe Council, located north of Tonopah in northern Nye County, became the 14th officially recognized community chapter on April 21, 2003.
Recent Accomplishments: The Manhattan Chapter has completed a four year long project with the Bureau of Land Management to create a shaded fuel break around the community, which sits in a forested canyon of heavy Pinion and Juniper. The chapter also removed hazardous fuel around homes within the community.
