The Chapter encompasses the Kyle and Lee Canyon areas in the Spring Mountains. A detailed survey by Resources Concepts Inc. found the box canyons, and the potential for extreme fire behavior, classified the chapter area as having the highest wildfire danger area in the Spring Mountains. Naturally, we are very concerned about doing all possible to make the area wildfire safe. We need YOUR participation in order to reach our goal of reducing wildfire danger in the Spring Mountains. To learn about our extreme fire danger rating, visit: www.rci-nv.com and click on reports, select Clark County, and then highlight your community for its wildfire risk assessment. Once you have seen this information, I have no doubt you will agree that something needs to be done. Working in partnership with the Clark County Fire Department, Nevada Division of Forestry and the United States Forest Service we are helping property owners create defensible space through education and grant funded fuels reduction assistance. Our chapter meets monthly at 6 p.m. before all regularly scheduled Town Advisory Board Meetings in the Mount Charleston Library. Please check our calendar upcoming events and meeting topics. We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
