Located along the Mt. Rose Hwy, Scotch Pine became the 68th chapter of The Nevada Fire Safe Council in June of 2007. The chapter quickly started work to secure funding and outline projects to reduce the threat of wildfire to the community.
In 2007 Scotch Pine received grants from the Untied States Forest Service through the Nevada Division of Forestry and Bureau of Land Management through the Southern Nevada Public Lands Act to remove hazardous fuels from the community. Hazardous fuels have been removed from 85% of the community and the chapter leaders are contacting the remaining property owners to encourage them to develop defensible space and remove fuels on their property.
