The Skyland Fire Safe Chapter will begin spring tree limbing and removal on Monday, March 24, 2008. The work will be funded by a grant from the Nevada Division of Forestry.

During the last part of May the Chapter will be participating in the 2008 Wildland Fire Awareness Week by a curbside collection of bagged and tied, pine needles and pine cones for delivery to Compost Your Combustibles at the Boulder Parking Lot of Heavenly Valley. The start date will be announced as soon as an opening date for Compost Your Combustibles is scheduled. The Chapter will also be participating in a 2008 Community Wildland Fire Awareness Week Education Night, Tuesday, May 20, 2008, 6:00 p.m., Kahle Park, 236 Kingsbury Grade, Stateline, NV. Further information will be available shortly.

Any Skyland homeowners that have not had a defensible space evaluation by the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District should contact Ann Grant, (775) 588-0641, to put their name on a list for the inspection. Defensible space evaluations must be done prior to participating in any grant funding the Chapter may be awarded.
