The Upper Kingsbury Chapter sits between the upper Kingsbury residential neighborhoods and the ridge to the Carson Valley, north of State route 207. The treatment area consists of 297 residential homes that separate the upper Kingsbury residential area from the top of the ridge to the Carson Valley. The upper Kingsbury prescription area is characterized by dense to open forest stands on steep slopes ranging from 30%-60%, with a dense brush understory. A Risk/Hazard assessment was completed in August of 2004 which rated the overall fire hazard as high. Upper Kingsbury became the 49th chapter of the Nevada Fire Safe Council on ____ , 200_.
In December 2007, the Chapter completed Phase I of a multi-phase defensible space / hazardous fuel reduction project through funds received from the Nevada Division of Forestry. The final grant report can be found here: Upper Kingsbury - NDF 06/19 (02.13.08).
